Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags - Plans for 2016

Mhairi Morris, Director of Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags – a Scottish ladies shooting club – tells us the plans she has for the club over the coming year.

We had our second driven day aimed at the novice shot at the start of January, it was a fantastic day with a bag of 78 and we left with all of the guns feeling more confident. January also hosts our first clay shot of the year at Menie Estate in Balmedie, which welcomes ten new ladies to the club as well as our regular members.

January and February events

It’s not all fun and games in January however, I will be busy planning and securing venues for future events. In particular, I am hoping to obtain a piece of land to develop into a clay shooting ground. So, there is lots to do and prepare for future Glad Rags and Cartridge Bags events!

February sees our first Glad Rags’ doggy day. Ladies have the opportunity to take their four-legged friends and get top tips from Pam Patterson who has been training dogs successfully for over 15 years. We are back to Raemoir House Hotel a few days later for a ladies clay shoot.

Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags 2016

So far over 150 individual ladies have come and shot at a Glad Rags & Cartridge Bags event, I would like to see this number continue to increase and I would also like to develop a platform where the younger generation are encouraged to learn how to clay shoot safely and properly.

There are exciting times ahead in 2016 with the new web site going live shortly, new venues, new events, visiting specialists, the ‘Glad Rags Challenge’ for the more competitive ladies and heaps more fun, laughter and friendships made.
